You are a member of the class if you own a Nissan vehicle with a Takata brand air bag. To verify if your vehicle is included in this settlement please utilize the VIN checker here

Specifically as follows:

A current owner or lessee of a Subject Vehicle distributed for sale or lease in the United States and all of its territories and possessions, as of September 19, 2017; or

A former owner or lessee of a Subject Vehicle distributed for sale or lease in the United States and all of its territories and possessions, who sold or returned, pursuant to a lease, a Subject Vehicle after April 11, 2013 and through September 19, 2017.

Case Summary

The lawsuit alleges that certain car companies, including Nissan, manufactured, distributed, or sold vehicles with defective Takata airbag inflators. The inflators can, upon deployment, rupture and expel debris or shrapnel at the driver or passenger and/or otherwise affect the airbag’s deployment, and that the Plaintiffs sustained economic losses as a result.

The lawsuit claims for violations of various state consumer protection laws, among other claims. Nissan denies that it has violated any law, denies liability, and denies that it engaged in any wrongdoing with respect to the manufacture, distribution, or sale of the Subject Vehicles.

    My 2010 Nissan Versa had one of the faulty airbags. I was given a free rental car while the dealership ordered the replacement and then it was replaced by the dealership at no cost to me. Do these actions by Nissan disqualify me?

    Nissan sent me and my husband a card stating that the airbags had been recalled on our vehicles but we have to pay for the replacement. When I entered my VIN into the tool provided, it stated that I did not qualify. Why?

    Perhaps you need another person to read the card for you. Recalls are never at the expense of the owner.

    My son had a Nissan that he totaled before we received the information in the mail. The airbag did deploy but I have no idea if there was any fragments. Or if it deployed correctly. Would we still qualify?

    According to the class eligibility for economic loss both present and past owners qualify. It reads as follows:

    All persons or entities who or which owned and/or leased, on September 19, 2017, Subject Vehicles distributed for sale or lease in the United States or any of its territories or possessions; and

    The hearing was on 2/8. It usually takes a month or two for the class action administrator to post updates.

I regret taking my car to that dealership. I have had to spend several thousands of dollars correcting all the screw ups they did to my car. Who do I need to

    Beverly Patterson: I too have a Nissan Versa 2008, took it the dealership after receiving both recall letters After 1 week the airbag light was back on , I was told I needed a clock spring because of moving parts in the steering. I contacted corporate got no response . I have had to pay out of pocket to try and resolve this issue, . was told by another mechanic the dealership broke that clock spring to began with , when they attempted to fix the airbag. So know what do I do.
