To be a member of this class action you must be a former tenants who leased a residential apartment from any Maryland property owned and managed by an AIMCO affiliate, who paid a security deposit, and who moved out between April 15, 2010 and April 6, 2015.”

Case Summary

According to the plaintiffs AIMCO failed to pay back the correct amount of tenant’s security deposits. This action was done in violation of Maryland law which prohibits deducting certain amounts from tenants security deposits “without documenting the damages claimed together with an accurate notice of costs actually incurred.”

The defendant denies the allegations but has agreed to the terms of the settlement in order to avoid the cost of further litigation.
