Class Eligibility

You are a member of the settlement if you are apart of the VM Settlements (2.0-liter and 3.0-liter Settlement Classes).

2.0-liter Settlement Class:

Individuals who were registered owners or lessees of an eligible vehicle in the U.S. on or before September 18, 2015.

Individuals who became a registered owner of an eligible vehicle in the U.S. after September 18, 2015, but before December 30, 2018.

3.0-liter Settlement Class:

September 18, 2015 to November 2, 2015: owned or leased an eligible vehicle in the U.S.

November 3, 2015 to June 1, 2019: became the owner of a generation one eligible vehicle in the U.S.

November 3, 2015 to December 31, 2019: became the owner of a generation two eligible vehicle in the U.S.

Owned an eligible vehicle in the U.S. while participating in the 3.0-liter Class Action Settlement Program.

Case Summary

Certain 2.0-liter Volkswagen and Audi branded diesel vehicles in the U.S. were equipped with “defeat device” software created to decrease the effectiveness of the vehicles’ emission control systems with respect to nitrogen oxides. Another Notice of Violation occurred, claiming that specific 3.0-liter diesel vehicles were also designed with illegal “defeat device” software.
