Case Summary

The lawsuit alleges that Chase, the provider of debit cards aimed at disbursing funds from prisoner’s trusts as well as money earned while in prison charged excessive fees thus is accused of unjust enrichment. Chase has agreed to settle and will refund qualified applicants all fees and surcharges associated to the use of their debit card. Additionally, if funds remain after all qualified class members have been paid these funds will be distributed pro rata among all qualified class members.
