Case Name
Kovach v. Compass Bank, Case No. CV-2018-902504, Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama
Case Summary
The federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, 47 U.S.C. § 227, et seq. (“TCPA”), prohibits automated and prerecorded or artificial voice calls to the cellular telephones of individuals who did not provide prior express consent to receive such calls. This lawsuit alleges that Compass Bank violated the TCPA by making automated and prerecorded or artificial voice collection calls to the cellphones of persons who did not have an account with Compass Bank and did not consent to receive the phone calls. Compass Bank contests these claims and denies that it violated the TCPA.

I remember being called several times. But my strongest memory was the sudden shock & instant fear when I saw “Compass Bank” on the caller ID because I immediately assumed something horrible had happened like having my account hacked. In 18+ years the bank had never called me. When I couldn’t answer but saw “Compass Bank” I would immediately call Customer Service expecting to hear that my account had been drained, only to have the representative tell me she saw no evidence that Compass had called me, despite my assuring her what my caller ID reflected. SMH…🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ It was very upsetting. Happy I stumbled across this. And yes, I have filed a claim. Thank you for this notice.
