Case Name
n re: Intuit Data Litigation,Case No. 15-cv-1778-EJD District Court for the Northern District of California
Case Summary
During tax years 2014, 2015, and 2016 (for which tax returns were filed in calendar years 2015, 2016, and 2017, respectively), some taxpayers’ identities were used by someone else to file fraudulent federal tax returns using the TurboTax service. This lawsuit claimed that Intuit (the “defendant” in this lawsuit and the operator of TurboTax) failed to adequately prevent the filing of these fraudulent tax returns. “Plaintiffs” in this lawsuit are six of the taxpayers whose identities were used by someone else to file fraudulent federal tax returns using TurboTax. Intuit denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not ruled that Intuit did anything wrong or violated any law. The Notice is not intended to be an expression of any opinion by the Court with respect to the truth of the allegations in this action or the merits of the claims or defenses asserted.

I used this site three times 2014, 2015 and 2016
ADMIN – Hi Perlisa,
Was there a fake tax return filed in your name? If yes consider filing.
Used turbo tax for the last 5 years !
I used this site twice 2015 and 2016
I had to go through ID verification does that count?
Not sure if Id was used
ADMIN – Hi Anette,
At the core the question that you need to ask yourself to see if you are a class member is simple: Did someone file a fake tax return in my name? If the answer is yes go ahead and file a claim.
My taxes was done from 2014 till 2017 by this system.
ADMIN – Hi Leah,
Was there a fake return submitted under your social? If so file a claim.
I suspect my name is on the list but do NOT want a Credit Monitoring Service. That is just another con. Is there no other punishment for this company?
ADMIN – Hi Elizabeth,
You would totally know if you were a member of the class since someone else would have filed your documents and received your refund.
I’m not sure if mine was used or not. If you could verify, I would be happy. Thank you in advance. Sheena
ADMIN – Hi Sheena,
You would totally know since you would have not received your tax refund.
People, just because you used it doesn’t mean the filed a return. Use some common sense and think!!
I’ve been using this Tax program for the last 5 years.
ADMIN – Hi Kay,
So have I. If someone submitted a fake tax return and got your tax money then you are a class member.
How do you find out if you were a victim of this ?
ADMIN – Hi Sabrina,
If you were a member of this settlement someone else filed and received your tax return
Do you have to have been notified by the IRS to qualify? I used this service for 2014, 2015 and 2016. They failed to file my SC state tax extension and I was fined. It had paid extra for the protection. I have not been made aware of anything else.
ADMIN – Hi Jackie,
This is about identity theft. Your particular circumstances don’t appear to be part of the settlement.
I had my taxes stolen in 2015
ADMIN – Hi Lori,
If you are a member of the class consider filing a claim.
Again ADMIN shows class and the patience of a Shaolin monk in communicating with those whom fail to grasp a simple concept. David S. Nelson certainly expresses the repressed aggression some may have toward those that fail to completely read or understand the simple directions again spelled out clearly and without complexity in the least, for all to comprehend and again gratitude is in order and appreciation for sharing information and teaching us the virtue of patience.
My tax returns were stolen through turbo tax and it took me a year to get them back…
It’s simple people. If you tried to file taxes and were told to call a number they informed you that you were a victim of fraud. Just because you used the site doesn’t mean a thing. Super easy to know.
I had a fake return filed against us during this time period.
