Case Summary

According the settlement LA Tan violated an Illinois law called the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) when they collected the fingerprints of Illinois customers’ without obtaining their informed written consent. BIPA is aimed at regulating the way in which personal identifiers are collected and stored. BIPA requires consent before biometrics are captured.
