Case Summary

The Lawsuit claims that LifeLock made misrepresentations which generally fall into four categories: (1) LifeLock’s promise to provide “comprehensive” services in detecting fraud; (2) Lifelock’s promise to provide timely and continuous alerts of potential fraud twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty five days a year; (3) Lifelock’s promise regarding its information security program; and (4) LifeLock’s promise to provide a “$1 Million Total Service Guarantee,” which the Class Representatives allege purports to promise insurance in an amount up to $1,000,000 against identity theft.

The court has not decided in favor of either one of the parties, instead both parties have agreed to settle to avoid the costs, uncertainty and time associated with a long trial

    I rec’d a mailer w/my ID# for the LIFELOCK = Ebarle Class Settlement in case that helps anyone. Also, does anyone know the specifics for the reason of the Clas Settlement? I just joined LIFELOCK 1-17-16 (3 days before the end of qualifying!) so know I’m really skeptical. They told me to check http://www.annualcreditreporting.com yearly to catch any companies that aren’t joined with LIFELOCK AND I did get an ALERT when I applied for an increase on a Credit Card & LifeLock alerted me within 3 minutes!

    I received a check for $19.48 while I was out of town taking care of my sister who we ultimately placed in an alzheimers house. I found this check when I came back and deposited it. Long story short, it was returned unpaid because I deposited it too late. I paid no attention which is my fault. I would be so pleased if this check could be reissued. Thank you for taking this into consideration.

    I don’t think these checks can be reissued. Usually the funds are given to charity if not claimed.

      In most cases expired checks are virtually impossible to get reissued since the admin closes doors once the expiration date passes. The monies in some instances go to charity and on occasion to the state treasurer as unclaimed funds.

      I did. Their bank said my bank was in error when the two account numbers didn’t match. My bank said the settlement bank was in error but agreed to honor the check.

    I also received a check dated 10/11/2016 on March 1st. But I do not see where the void date would have been located. on it Based on all of the comments I’ve read here (and on other similar sites with a comment page), I don’t think i can cash it now, because either, the check expires 120 days from 10/11/16 and we’re now past that, or if I tried now my bank would charge me a $25 fee for a returned check. and because as the AMIN pointed out the chances of getting them to re-issue that check are “Super low”. SO basically, it’s just a piece of worthless paper that I will now have to throw into the recycling pile.

    Five months after depositing the check???? That is not the way banks operate. Did you deposit the check five months after receiving it perhaps? Class action settlements are not a scam.

    No – I actually have a copy of the check (both sides) provided by my bank where I deposited the check. Check date was 2/28/2017 – date stamped by the bank is 3/9/2017 (the deposit date) and it originally hit my account on 3/14/2017. I spoke with GCG and they could not provide any further information, neither could Signature Bank, the bank on which the check was drawn.

    The check was dated 2/28/2017. It was deposited at the bank on 3/9/2017 and recorded in my bank statement. On 8/8/2017, it was reversed from my account (reason on the check states “stop payment”.

    Usually by the time the checks expired the admin has closed shop. The money either goes to charity or it is forwarded to the treasurer. Check with the treasurer of your state first to see if you have unclaimed funds.

    I received a $20 check dated 10/11/2016, stating it was Void After 120 Days. I was away from home for several months so did not receive until Sept. 2017 so tried to contact Ebarle to request they reissue the check. I have been trying for over a week to contact someone with the information in the envelope. The phone always has a busy signal & the website took me to a rude person who said they have nothing to do with this.

    At this point you have no legal grounds to claim the funds or get the check replaced. The admin has stopped handling escalations and most likely they donated the left over monies to charity.

    Keyword is “up to”. You will not receive that amount of money. That was best case scenario. Settlements are divided pro rata among qualified class members.

    It is virtually impossible to get a replacement this late into the game. The admin closes shop and the remaining funds either become part of a second residual distribution or are given to charity.

    If the check is more than 90 days the administration has closed shop and you may no longer get it reissued. The administration has either used the funds for a second distribution or it has given the money to charity.

    I received a check this LAST week and deposited it also, and my bank informed me TODAY the account was “closed” that the check was made from !!! I looked at the date on the receipt portion of the mailing and it says 10/11/2016 !!! I’m seeing all sorts of comments to contact the ADMIN but there is no number to call etc. the number on the check receipt 1-855-907-3140 does not answer — there’s only a constant busy signal. This sounds like a SCAM or worse from what I am seeing on the notes here. Many of these people tried to cash their checks also within the time that they received their check in the mail and the checks were NOT GOOD !!!

The checks are Claim No. A6908C4C01, Check # 270745, and Claim No. FBEB688018, Check # 270774 – both dated 10/11/2016. Each check is for $19.48. I get these reissued? If so, please describe what I need to do. Note – I have a new address.

    You cannot get them reissued. Most settlements have a secondary distribution that depletes the funds. You no longer have recourse.
