Case Name

Ebarle et al. v. LifeLock, Inc.,
Case No. 3:15-cv-00258-HSG
District Court for the Northern District of California

Case Summary

The Lawsuit claims that LifeLock made misrepresentations which generally fall into four categories: (1) LifeLock’s promise to provide “comprehensive” services in detecting fraud; (2) Lifelock’s promise to provide timely and continuous alerts of potential fraud twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty five days a year; (3) Lifelock’s promise regarding its information security program; and (4) LifeLock’s promise to provide a “$1 Million Total Service Guarantee,” which the Class Representatives allege purports to promise insurance in an amount up to $1,000,000 against identity theft.

The court has not decided in favor of either one of the parties, instead both parties have agreed to settle to avoid the costs, uncertainty and time associated with a long trial

I am, and have been, a LifeLock subscriber since 2011. I would like to be part of this class action settlement, however, I can’t file an online form because I don’t have a claim ID and can’t proceed. How do I obtain the claim ID? Thank you.

I rec’d a mailer w/my ID# for the LIFELOCK = Ebarle Class Settlement in case that helps anyone. Also, does anyone know the specifics for the reason of the Clas Settlement? I just joined LIFELOCK 1-17-16 (3 days before the end of qualifying!) so know I’m really skeptical. They told me to check yearly to catch any companies that aren’t joined with LIFELOCK AND I did get an ALERT when I applied for an increase on a Credit Card & LifeLock alerted me within 3 minutes!

    Thanks all! Ru

  13. myra j casey says:

I received a check for $19.48 while I was out of town taking care of my sister who we ultimately placed in an alzheimers house. I found this check when I came back and deposited it. Long story short, it was returned unpaid because I deposited it too late. I paid no attention which is my fault. I would be so pleased if this check could be reissued. Thank you for taking this into consideration.

    ADMIN – Hi Myra,

I don’t think these checks can be reissued. Usually the funds are given to charity if not claimed.

    • jacob pipkin says:

i have a check that is expired and curious if it can be re-issued? check no. 136111

      jacob pipkin

      ADMIN – Hi Jacob,

In most cases expired checks are virtually impossible to get reissued since the admin closes doors once the expiration date passes. The monies in some instances go to charity and on occasion to the state treasurer as unclaimed funds.

  14. Lisa says:

Why is my check over $100.00? In what I’ve read it would be around $20.00. My husband and I both have an account. Recieved one check in my name.

  15. Paulette Wellborn says:

I received my check in the mail on March 3, 2017. The void date is Feb 8, 2017. What should class members do?

    ADMIN – Hi Paulette,

    Contact the class action administrator.

  16. Bob says:

I just got a second check from this settlement today for $134.02

  17. John J Hines, Jr. says:

My wife received a check for $134.04 dated 2/28/2017. We both had identical separate accounts for the same time period. Why did I not receive a check?

    ADMIN – Hi John,

Please contact the class action administrator directly with your question.

  18. daniel says:

My bank refused to cash my settlement check for $134.04. What should I do.

    ADMIN – Hi Daniel,

Please contact the class action administrator.

  19. Deborah Smith says:

I was the primary account holder I got first check in nov. My son got a second check, why didn’t I?

    ADMIN – Hi Deborah,

I don’t know, but you can email and ask.

  20. Amy Johnson says:

My husband and daughter both got a second settlement check this month and I did not. All 3 of us got the 1st check??

    ADMIN – Hi Amy,

I encourage you to contact the class action administrator with your case-specific question.

  21. Giovanni Mckenzie says:

I received a check dated 10/11/2016 on March 1 2017 , that check is voided and I call the number 855-907-3140 but it’s out of service. How can I get a new check mailed to me. I’m stationed overseas

    ADMIN – Hi Giovanni,

Your best bet is to contact class counsel but your chances of getting that check reissued are super low.

  22. Debbie Culley says:

My check from Lifelock for $134.04 bounced at my bank. Account numbers didn’t match.

    ADMIN – Hi Debbie,

    Reach out to the admin.

    • Debbie Culley says:

I did. Their bank said my bank was in error when the two account numbers didn’t match. My bank said the settlement bank was in error but agreed to honor the check.

  23. Rose Marston says:

I also received a check dated 10/11/2016 on March 1st. But I do not see where the void date would have been located. on it Based on all of the comments I’ve read here (and on other similar sites with a comment page), I don’t think i can cash it now, because either, the check expires 120 days from 10/11/16 and we’re now past that, or if I tried now my bank would charge me a $25 fee for a returned check. and because as the AMIN pointed out the chances of getting them to re-issue that check are “Super low”. SO basically, it’s just a piece of worthless paper that I will now have to throw into the recycling pile.

    ADMIN – Hi Rose,

Super low but not impossible. Reach out to the admin via email and explain your situation.

  24. Ozzy says:

My 2 kids and myself were members at that time how can I acquire this monetary fund?

    ADMIN – Hi Ozzy,

The deadline for this case was last year. You no longer have legal recourse.

  25. Colleen Clark says:

I have this check for 19.48$ that was dated on 10/11/2016. It is void after 120 days 10/11/2016. What do I, do with it, Bank will not cash it?

    ADMIN – Hi Colleen,

You throw it to the garbage.

  26. rob says:

5 months after depositing my check I just got a notice that my deposit of $134.04 voided by the bank plus a $12 fee. Any recourse is this all just a scam?

    ADMIN – Hi Rob,

Five months after depositing the check???? That is not the way banks operate. Did you deposit the check five months after receiving it perhaps? Class action settlements are not a scam.

  27. rob says:

No – I actually have a copy of the check (both sides) provided by my bank where I deposited the check. Check date was 2/28/2017 – date stamped by the bank is 3/9/2017 (the deposit date) and it originally hit my account on 3/14/2017. I spoke with GCG and they could not provide any further information, neither could Signature Bank, the bank on which the check was drawn.

    ADMIN – Hi Rob,

    Super strange. Call class counsel.

  28. rob says:

The check was dated 2/28/2017. It was deposited at the bank on 3/9/2017 and recorded in my bank statement. On 8/8/2017, it was reversed from my account (reason on the check states “stop payment”.

  29. Nathalie Wallace says:

I received a check for this already but I misplaced it and now that I have found it, it has expired. I called 1855-907-3140 like it says on the check and I get a busy signal every time. I need help getting the check reissued. Please contact me.

    ADMIN – Hi Nathalie,

You are very unlikely to get the check reissued. The class action admin has closed shop and is no longer handling escalations.

  30. Shameka Render says:

I have the same issue .. My check expired because i was no longer living at the address they have on file and would like to have the check reissued.. How could we do so and probably can’t deposit the check at this time correct?

    ADMIN – Hi Shameka,

I gave you a response on a prior post.

  31. Shameka Render says:

My check expired because i was no longer living at the address they have on file and would like to have the check reissued.. How could we do so and probably can’t deposit the check at this time correct?

    ADMIN – Hi Shameka,

Usually by the time the checks expired the admin has closed shop. The money either goes to charity or it is forwarded to the treasurer. Check with the treasurer of your state first to see if you have unclaimed funds.

  32. Shirley Bassett says:

I received a $20 check dated 10/11/2016, stating it was Void After 120 Days. I was away from home for several months so did not receive until Sept. 2017 so tried to contact Ebarle to request they reissue the check. I have been trying for over a week to contact someone with the information in the envelope. The phone always has a busy signal & the website took me to a rude person who said they have nothing to do with this.

    ADMIN – Hi Shirley,

At this point you have no legal grounds to claim the funds or get the check replaced. The admin has stopped handling escalations and most likely they donated the left over monies to charity.

  33. Ronald Kim says:

My wife Connie Kim received a settlement check, but I have not. I signed up and at the same time, I signed my wife up. Her claimant number is A970850342. She received a post card in the mail regarding this claim, which we filed and subsequently received a settlement check. I don’t believe I received a notice. My name is Ronald Kim, 7328 Salvadora Pl, Las Vegas, NV 89113. My email address is

    ADMIN – Hi Mr. Kim,

Please contact the class action administrator directly.

  37. Grover C Bailey says:

I received a check for $134.04 in 2016 also in 2017, is this only one check a year. i read where i would receice up to $34000,00.? how or why cant i get this in one lump sume. instead of one check a year.

    ADMIN – Hi Grover,

Keyword is “up to”. You will not receive that amount of money. That was best case scenario. Settlements are divided pro rata among qualified class members.

  38. Charles Allen says:

I have a settlement check from you but had misplaced it and found it again. It has been over 120 days. What do I need to do to get an updated check?

    ADMIN – Hi Charles,

It is virtually impossible to get a replacement this late into the game. The admin closes shop and the remaining funds either become part of a second residual distribution or are given to charity.

  39. Kelly Sachs says:

A check for $134.04 was addressed and issued to my son. He did not; however, show it to me nor did he deposit the check as he was only 13 years old at the time he apparently received the check. Can we get a new check issued?

    ADMIN – Hi Kelly,

If the check is more than 90 days the administration has closed shop and you may no longer get it reissued. The administration has either used the funds for a second distribution or it has given the money to charity.

  40. Star Tarrant says:

I received a check this LAST week and deposited it also, and my bank informed me TODAY the account was “closed” that the check was made from !!! I looked at the date on the receipt portion of the mailing and it says 10/11/2016 !!! I’m seeing all sorts of comments to contact the ADMIN but there is no number to call etc. the number on the check receipt 1-855-907-3140 does not answer — there’s only a constant busy signal. This sounds like a SCAM or worse from what I am seeing on the notes here. Many of these people tried to cash their checks also within the time that they received their check in the mail and the checks were NOT GOOD !!!

    ADMIN – Hi Star,

This is the company that handled the settlement

  41. Nikki says:

My father received a check dated 10/11/2016 check number 335424 can he still cash this check.

    ADMIN – Hi Mr. Reilly,

Contact the class action administrator. Did the check arrive expired already?

  44. David Jennings says:

Checks were delivered to old address and have expired. How do I contact Administrator to have checks reissued?

    Thank you.

    ADMIN – Hi David,

Scroll up and you will see the contact information for the admin. However, your chances of getting a replacement are pretty slim. the leftover funds once the cashing window has expired either become part of a second distribution or are given to charity.

  45. Sharon Lane says:

i recently received a postcard advising me of the Class Action Settlement against LifeLock. I do not have and can’t get a claim form from the website ( How do I submit a claim. I have been a member of LifeLock since, at least, 2005(?).

    ADMIN – Hi Sharon,

    Contact the class action administrator.

  46. Holly says:

Hi – I received a claim check quite awhile ago, but am not sure if I ever deposited it, but it says void after 120 days. Is there a way to see if I did in fact deposit this check or if it is still outstanding?

    Thank you,

    ADMIN – Hi Holly,

I don’t believe there is. The admin has closed shop.

  47. Jody Stall says:

I just got my check for the class action lawsuit in the mail yesterday 09/10/2018, it is dated 10/11/2016 how do I get my money? It must have been lost in the mail or something, pretty sad that it took 2 years to get delivered to me.

    ADMIN – Hi Jody,

Try reaching out to the class action administrator. You will need the envelope showing the proper postmark

  48. David Larson says:

I just found class action checks from 2016 for both myself and my wife. The case was Ebarle v LifeLock, Inc. The checks are Claim No. A6908C4C01, Check # 270745, and Claim No. FBEB688018, Check # 270774 – both dated 10/11/2016. Each check is for $19.48. I get these reissued? If so, please describe what I need to do. Note – I have a new address.
    Thank you.

    ADMIN – Hi David,

You cannot get them reissued. Most settlements have a secondary distribution that depletes the funds. You no longer have recourse.

  49. Elena Loza says:

I need someone to contact me asap I received one check. 20$ and then my purse was stolen in 2016 with everything like claim number and other things I tried to contact someone since then but if you can email me I would like the rest of my benefits cause I’m sure the checks were mailed back .to you guys, respectfully,

At this point it is too late and you no longer have recourse.
