Case Summary
This lawsuit claims that Defendant violated Michigan’s Preservation of Personal Privacy Act, M.C.L. § 445.1712 (“PPPA”) by disclosing information related to its customers’ magazine subscriptions to third parties. The Defendant denies it violated any law. The Court has not determined who is right. Rather, the Parties have agreed to settle the lawsuit to avoid the uncertainties and expenses associated with ongoing litigation.

    I received and actually still receive the Taste of Home magazine, however, I did not receive a post card with the class action claim number on it. How do I now if I qualify for certain?

        I received a check today for $41.37 from Taylor v. Trusted Media Brancs class action distribution payment. I googled it to make sure the check it legitimate and it looks like it is. Hope this helps.

    The FAQ reads as follows
    The hearing to consider the fairness of the Settlement is scheduled for January 31, 2018. If the Court approves the Settlement, eligible Class Members whose claims were approved by the Settlement Administrator will receive their payment 28 days after the Settlement has been finally approved and/or after any appeals process is complete. The payment will be made in the form of a check, and all checks will expire and become void 90 days after they are issued.

    I have not yet received reports of individuals receiving checks which leads me to believe that this remains under appeals.

    Worried about cashing it since I’ve read many were returned for insufficient funds and then charged by their bank for the returned check. Should I cash the check?

      Yes, My check was also $41.37. I have been researching this because I thought it was a scam check, to deposit to get my account number. I am now confident that it is a valid check. never can be too wary……………

    Why would we no longer have recourse? I had no idea this had been paid. I received a postcard about it in the mail and filed online back in December. I’ve checked their website several times and it was never updated to say the payments were made. I just found this site by doing a search to find out why the payment was taking so long. I’m kinda bummed.

    I received a settlement check in the mail yesterday in the amount of $41.37. However it is made out to Grandma Tiesman. Should be Joyce Tiesman as I am the grandma of our 12 year old grandson. Please reissue the check in the name of Joyce Tiesman. The bank will not cash this check issued to Grandma Tiesman.

    I received my check and they did not change the name on it as I stated when I filed. Hoping my bank will accept it if I take court papers with name change on it. I have not found anywhere to get a different check with the change on it.
