Class Eligibility

You are a Class Member if you are a female patient who had medical consultations for treatment with Dr. Heaps:
(1) at UCLA Medical Center (currently called Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center) from January 1, 1986 to June 28, 2018; or
(2) at UCLA’s student health center (currently called Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center) from January 1, 1983 to June 30, 2010; or
(3) at Dr. Heaps’s medical offices at 100 UCLA Medical Plaza from February 1, 2014 to June 28, 2018.

Case Summary

Plaintiffs claim that Dr. James Heaps sexually assaulted, violated, harassed, and offended his female patients, during various time frames between January 1, 1983 and June 28, 2018, when said doctor offered gynecological and obstetric services at specific UCLA medical facilities. Plaintiffs also claim that UCLA supervisors and administrators (otherwise known as “Regents”) were continually informed of Dr. Heaps’s misdemeanors but failed in taking the necessary protective precautions towards his patients.
