You are a member of the settlement if you had a Yahoo account between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2016. Yahoo accounts include traditional Yahoo email accounts as well as other sites that were owned or operated by Yahoo during the qualifying time period. Other sites include Yahoo Fantasy Sports, Yahoo Finance, Tumblr, and Flickr. Qualifying locations include the United States and Israel.

    I truly feel that i may have been a part of the yahoo data breach. I had issues where i couldn’t get into my account with my original pass word. I have been using an account key since 2014. I also had some credit issues down the line and information that i used as receipts for verification that i could not get reimbursed for . Acct numbers i could not get back for confirmation purposes,, This was a very devistating time for me.

    Although I did not suffer any monetary loss (thank goodness), I was sent an email in which I was threatened with extortion of $5K as they had hacked my acct & he indeed had one of my passwords.     My household used a yahoo email account for our family business in this time period. Since we used it for business we would buy products using this email and have transactions through the account. The number of times our credit card information was stolen was ridiculous. We did not realize that it was the yahoo account, we assumed we just had bad luck. We realized that the yahoo account was not keeping our information safe when we switched to using Paypal to do transactions and our card was not stolen since. Yahoo did not keep our information safe and it lead to our credit cards being stolen on multiple occassions.

    It is likely that Yahoo only knows your nickname, and general location. If you fine a claim or opt-out they ask that you give your personal details. If you really want to give up your privacy for such a petty sum, then file a claim. I would never consider doing such a foolish thing.
